Abstract

The paper studies reaction time in 7- to 16-year-old schoolchildren with varying degrees of academic achievement. High achievers aged 10 to 11 years have low reaction time, about 450 ms, while low achievers, high reaction time, about 550 ms. Schoolchildren with low academic performance achieve these reaction time values a year later. The possibility of using reaction time as a diagnostic and prognostic indicator for correction of academic achievement is discussed.

Keywords

reaction time, schoolchildren, academic achievement.
